Server / Food Prep
DOCKSIDE CANTINA – SERVERS/FOOD PREPARATION
We are looking for a staff to work our Dockside Cantina (floating restaurant) at Sunshine Houseboats and Marina located on Lake Koocanusa, BC. The restaurant has a mix of simple ready-made items, as well as hotdogs, tacos, burritos, fresh salads, ice cream, Slushies and a few other fun items. Ideal candidates have serving experience in addition to food preparation and cooking skills. We pride ourselves on providing a fun environment with amazing customer service so if you love being surrounded by sand, water and a great team of people, join us for 2021.
We are located on Lake Koocanusa, 100 km from Cranbrook and 70 km from Fernie in beautiful South Eastern British Columbia.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
30-50 hours per week with a starting immediately. This job is fast paced and requires a mature organized person who can multitask and prioritize what needs to get done. Ideally the candidate has the ability to lead the cantina team. Job includes other great perks including staff discounts, marina and waterpark perks and oh, you join the dream team so there’s that. JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Serving experience required
- Confidence interacting with people is a must
- Cash/till experience required
- Touch Bistro experience highly desired
- Familiarity of cash in/out procedures an asset

KEY DUTIES:

Dockhand
DOCKHAND
We are looking for full and part-time, keen, physically capable and courteous houseboat dockhands for our 2021 summer season. Dockhands are primarily responsible for maintaining the exterior of our watercraft, maintaining and cleaning docks, supplying propane and water, removing septic and garbage, moving boats, fueling, assisting clients with their supplies and luggage to and from their cars, and a multitude of small repairs and maintenance. All staff will also help maintain and attend the waterpark before and during operating hours.
We are located on Lake Koocanusa, 100 km from Cranbrook and 70 km from Fernie in beautiful South Eastern British Columbia. Come join the team and work in the sun with us!
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Dockhand staff are required to stay on site at our marina during their shift in provided accommodation (unless close accommodations are possible). We have private cabin rooms with access to staff kitchen/lounge area and washrooms with showers. We do not charge anything for accommodation, which is a huge perk! We welcome couples to apply as well as we have rooms to accommodate.
30-45 Hours per week. Start date of May or June to Sept (exact dates TBD). 8 hours per day on a 4-5 day shifts. No long weekends off.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent communication skills required
- Customer service experience preferred

- Any marine, RV and/or mechanical knowledge an asset • Possess good health and physical condition (Loading and unloading)

KEY DUTIES:
- Help clients load and unload boats using golf carts
- Clean hot tubs, all decks and exteriors of boats, and BBQs
- Provide orientation to clients (not all staff will do this)
- Maintain boats and rental equipment, provide product and pricing information
- Work with the marina manager and head cleaner to ensure boats are ready for clients
- Maintain garbage and recycling on boats and on land
- Gas up boats (if needed complete sale in store using till and debit machine)
- Remove septic waste from houseboats and in campground via pump system
- Take garbage to dump
- Maintain dock area cleanliness
- Greet and assist clients in a helpful manner
- Parking control
- Move watercraft at our docks
- Assess and repair waterpark as needed. Training provided.
- Complete appropriate paperwork
- Assist service & repair associates including using service boat to assist clients on the lake
- Other duties as required

Cleaners
2021 HOUSEBOAT, CAMPGROUND AND MARINA CLEANING CREW
Sunshine Houseboats operates charter houseboats, various motorized and non-motorized small water craft, a marina store, boat moorage, mechanical services, a small partially serviced campground and an inflatable waterpark all on one of the most beautiful lakes in BC. We strive to provide high quality service and believe that a positive, keen attitude is key in achieving this. If you are adaptable, hardworking, work well in a team, and enjoy the sun, working with us will be mutually beneficial.
We are looking for houseboat, boat and facilities cleaning staff for our 2021 season. We have openings for 2-4 cleaners with 35-40 hour work weeks. We welcome teams/couples to apply and we are specifically looking for at least one team of two people to manage the interior houseboat and facilities cleaning (5 day shift). Staff will always have 2 days off in a row. There are a number of other positions available if you, a partner or friend are looking to work together.

30-45 Hours per week with a start date beginning in June through September (4 months). Varied schedule. (If interested in working spring clean, painting, the start date can be earlier)

- Clean houseboats thoroughly after winter storage in spring and conduct houseboat inventory and restock as needed.
- Dust furniture and vacuum carpeting and area rugs, draperies and upholstered furniture. Sweep, mop, and wash floors.
- Clean, disinfect and polish kitchen and bathroom fixtures and appliances including cleaning out fridges and ovens (In houseboats and in site facilities)
- Maintain and monitor cleaning supplies and tools. Order new supplies as needed
- Wash windows, walls, cupboards and ceilings as required
- Pick up garbage and dispose of in bin on site
- Replenish amenities supplies upon request
- Ensure furniture in the rooms is properly placed (Assistance given if required)
- Report and store lost and found items
- Cart people from parking lot to boat and return.
- Stock other items including ice and water at the store.
- Assist in detail cleaning of small watercraft, non-motorized watercraft etc.
- Other jobs as needed.

Marine Mechanic
Sunshine Houseboat Vacations Ltd is always looking for keen, skilled, hardworking mechanics or mechanics in training to join our team. Sunshine Houseboats is located on Gold Bay, Lake Koocanusa in South Eastern, BC. We are the largest marina on the lake with over 80 boats moored and hundreds more visiting us. Ideally, we are seeking someone who has a good base of skills but we are willing to train the right people with the ability to learn. Training is ongoing and provided onsite.
Staff are required to stay onsite unless they live close. Position to start in early spring or early summer of 2020.
JOB DESCRIPTION AND PREFERRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Service and repair marine motors/engines
- Have knowledge of some or all of the following product lines: Mercury, Mercruiser, Yamaha, Honda. Other brands an asset
- Troubleshoot mechanical problems on any number of marine products including Jetskis, seadoos, outboard and inboard motors
- Utilize diagnostic equipment and manuals where applicable
- Be keen to be trained on new equipment including wake surf boats
- Maintain and utilize the mechanical inventory
- Operate any number of marine and construction equipment as needed including hauling of trailers
- Launch and pull watercraft as needed
- Work effectively with other staff and supervisors
- Manage work spaces including ongoing cleaning, organizing
